The Japanese Meteorological Department issues a warning to its citizens of a strong typhoon that will sweep the southern region

The Japan Meteorological Agency warned on Saturday of a large and powerful typhoon expected to make landfall on the southern island of Kyushu on Sunday.

In a statement, the agency indicated that it may issue a special warning to Kagoshima Prefecture and the northern part of the main island of Kyushu, located in the far south of Japan, due to the possibility of strong waves and heavy rains in the two regions.

The storm is expected to veer eastward and pass over Tokyo on Tuesday before moving to the sea on Wednesday.
