Seiyun Palace was the royal residence of the Al Kathiri sultans, located in the city of Seiyun in the Hadhramaut Valley. It is one of the largest mudbrick structures in the world and a unique heritage site, facing potential collapse due to heavy rains and years of neglect and its back wall has recently begun to collapse.
Seiyun Palace or the Old Fort is one of the architectural masterpieces in the Arabian Peninsula as a whole, and the largest mud-built buildings in the world. It was built 500 years ago, and as it is known at the present time, it was the palace of power for the sultans of the Kathiri state that ruled the Hadhramaut Valley for a period before Date.
At present it is a museum and it opened its doors to the public in 1984 AD, and it serves as the most prominent landmark of Seiyun, the main city in the southern Hadhramaut Valley. Seiyun Palace is known for its white color, arches and beautiful artistic decorations. The time of the Katheer State before the glorious national independence on the 30th of November 1967 AD.
